about me

• Introvert (though do a mean impression of an extrovert).
• People observer.
• Love understanding the story behind everything.

Hello!

My name is Nupu Press. I’m an artist and writer.

My first illustrated book, My Illustrated Camino Diary, is out now!

My collection of essays (and a poem), Seeking and Belonging, is also available.

I have many more book projects in the works combining art and text. You can see some of my work in progress on my homepage and on Instagram.

My short stories and essays have been published in literary journals in the UK and India. I was a newspaper columnist (twice) in Bangladesh. I also edited and co-edited a dozen non-fiction books, including one for MoMA in New York.

I teach workshops and give talks at schools, colleges, companies and festivals on creativity and storytelling (please see events for upcoming news).

I worked in feature film production for 25 years for Universal, Working Title, and Channel 4, among others; on films like The Bourne Supremacy and The Guru, and with directors such as Mira Nair, Paul Greengrass, and Deepa Mehta. I also headed production for Disney in India and was Vice President of production at Cinestaan Film Company.

To answer that tricky question, ‘where are you from?’ I’ve drawn some pictures for you:

I always love hearing from you! Feel free to connect with me here.
